Club Spotlight - Red Sea FC
Shining a light on Nottinghamshire Club, Red Sea FC.
Red Sea FC was founded in Nottingham in 2019 by Ezedin Osman, a national of Eritrea (a country in East Africa) and currently living and working in Nottingham. Our article here, was put together in June as the club started to look at the possibility of competing in a league here in Nottinghamshire. Following this, the club worked hard behind the scenes to achieve Affiliation and be able to compete in a league. They secured a spot in the NSL Development Division, getting underway in September.
Club Founder and Manager Ezedin said: "Red Sea Club is thrilled to announce that we are having an exceptional season in the Nottinghamshire Senior League Development division. The season, which began in September with 10 teams, saw us securing a spot in the top 5 by the end of December. As we prepare for the second round of the league, starting on February 1, 2025, we are excited to compete in home and away matches against other top 5 teams. This achievement is particularly momentous as it marks our first time participating in a league. We owe much of our success to the incredible support from the local Nottinghamshire FA and various local organizations. Special thanks to STAR group for hosting fundraising events and to Refugee Roots for sponsoring our kit. Your unwavering support has been instrumental in our journey, and we look forward to making you proud in the upcoming matches."
Notts FA Inclusion Officer Sophie Swanwick said: "We have now been supporting Red Sea FC for just under a year and have seen the club transform from a kick about at Forest Sports Zone to an accredited football club. The development doesn’t stop there with Red Sea as they would love to grow and have multiple teams. It is a pleasure supporting this football club and watching them grow and succeed. I want to wish Red Sea FC all the best for the rest of the season."
