White Ribbon Day 2024
Monday 25 November is White Ribbon Day 2024.
We are sharing this message and spreading awareness about White Ribbon Day alongside our Charity Partner Broxtowe Women’s Project (BWP).
We are supporting #WhiteRibbonDay and want to bring attention to the important role men play in ending violence against women and girls.
At Nottinghamshire FA we strive to foster an environment where everyone feels empowered to stand up to abuse and harassment, including instances fuelled by sexist and misogynistic attitudes. Working with Broxtowe Women’s Project we aim to affect positive behaviour change to transform harmful cultures in grassroots football across Nottinghamshire.
Since working with BWP and becoming a White Ribbon Accredited organisation, we’ve focused our efforts in achieving gender equality by addressing the root causes of violence and inequality: harmful masculine traits.
Chris Harris (BWP Partnerships Manager) said: “BWP have found working in partnership with Nottinghamshire FA a positive way to meet and understand the complexities of a wide range of individuals involved in grassroots football. Any adjustments to make the game more accessible and inclusive are welcomed. In particular, changes that help in our focus to combat Violence Against Women and Girls.”
It starts with men, it starts with us. Together, we can end violence against women and girls by challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours that allow gender-based violence to occur in the first place.
We fully support the White Ribbon message and want to encourage and express the importance of men’s allyship.
