Graham Saville
It is with great sadness to inform the football community of the tragic death of Ravenshead Reds u11 coach Graham Saville on Tuesday 29th August 2023.
Graham was a serving police officer with Nottinghamshire Police, he was a response Sergeant based at Newark Police Station and on Thursday 24th August 2023 Graham attended an incident in Balderton, Newark to a report of a distressed male on the train lines. Graham heroically saved the man’s life but in doing so was tragically hit by a train. Graham’s colleagues provided life-saving emergency aid before emergency medics arrived on scene. Graham suffered life-changing injuries and was being treated at the Queens Medical Centre, devastatingly with his family by his side, Graham succumbed to his injuries on 29th August.
Ravenshead Reds FC have paid tribute to a lovely man, a respected coach and friend to everyone at the club. The club would like the football community to hold a minute’s silence during matches played across Nottinghamshire over the coming days. Whilst Graham’s death is a huge loss to Ravenshead Reds it is nothing in comparison to the loss felt by Graham’s loved ones. Graham was a great role model who volunteered his time so children could play football.
Ravenshead Reds FC and Nottinghamshire Football Association would like to express their deepest condolences to Graham Saville’s family, friends and colleagues in both the Police and football communities.
